In the 15th edition of Samvad on Saturday 25th August 2018 we explored one of the Fundamental Rights of Indian Citizens secured in the Article 19 of the Constitution. The discussion included the current environment of increasing curbs and attacks on free speech, expression, free and independent media and various other constitutional freedoms such as the freedom of assembly, right to protest and form associations, which have been integral part of our democratic rights as an active citizenry. We tried to understand the role of the state, citizens, police, etc. in a journey of self-discovery which lead to one of the core learning, which is how we censor ourselves and how the environment affects us. We also discussed the role FoE, in human rights, good governance and even human development.
